The second edition of Livewire Festival in Blackpool will be the venue for Mariah Carey’s only UK festival date this year.

The superstar singer, one of the best-selling recording artists of all time, will headline on Friday 24 August, organisers Livewire Events and Piper Music Management announced today. Other performers are Boyz II Men and Matt Goss of Bros on Thursday 23rd, with performers for the weekend (25 and 26 August) still to be revealed.

Livewire Festival debuted last year, selling out its 20,000 capacity with a nostalgia heavy line-up topped by Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff, the Jacksons and ‘the Hit Factory Live’ featuring Jason Donovan, Go West, Sinitta and more.

“We are thrilled at the prospect of Mariah Carey performing live in Blackpool”

The event has expanded from three to four days for 2018, but will once again take place at the Tower Headlands Arena (20,000-cap.) in the seaside resort in north-west England.

Councillor Gillian Campbell, deputy leader of Blackpool Council, comments: “This is absolutely fantastic news and we are thrilled at the prospect of Mariah Carey performing live in Blackpool. She is a world-class artist and this promises to be another sensational Livewire event over the August bank holiday weekend.”

Carey’s last headlining tour, the Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour, was the 56th highest-grossing of 2016, generating US$30.3m from 68 shows. An upcoming concert trek, the #1s tour, touches down in Auckland, New Zealand, this October.
